Some of you may find this question to be silly but I really have no clue so I thought I would ask!
Generally I see women wear their wedding band below their engagement ring. Then I see others wearing them above their engagement ring. Is there a reason for either option? Or is it just personal preference?
To me it seems to make more sense to have the wedding band above the engagement ring because you got the engagement ring first and then the wedding band followed. But it seems the majority wear it below.
@Nikko – I have Greek Orthodox friends who wear their engagement/wedding bands on their RIGHT hand. Does your family do that too?

My wife is out of town for a few weeks and I have decided to go out and roister upon the town. I did this putatively last nite but women caught me out lying when they noticed a light zone on my ring finger. I do not want to admit I am married because only the grungiest of chix go for that kind of guy. I could say I have been recently widowed, but this is too cheezy even for a degenerated individual sucha s myself. So I need to know if there is some sort of spray or lotion that will mask but not remove the light spot. I need it back there when my wife returns, hopefully after I have bongoed my way into half the women in town.

to pick up chicks, if he isn’t married? A friend of mine (unmarried, average looking) has been testing a theory when he’s approaching women for sex: He feels the ring conveys a certain social proof that women find attractive in that some (assumed) woman somewhere values him, therefore masking him more desirable….also, he feels a woman’s natural home wrecker desire is stoked by the ring as well, making her more intrigued and interested in him.
The early evidence is highly favorable for his theory….In just the last month I have seen a marked improvement in his game.
As a woman, why do you think his approach works so well?
Blue-Eyed: he just wants to have sex with them, NOT a relationship. Very casual, fairly infrequent encounters, where a woman’s character would not be important, but her attractiveness and adventerousness would be
Velma – you contempt for me really shows through…two personal attacks for no reason….sorry you can’t handle bad news. I never said I had anything to do with this experiement…in fact I was skeptical at first it would work. But thanks for the personal attack…I hope someone reports you for it.
Adorable: makes sense….thanks for the answer and for not attacking me like others did
I’m a little appalled by some of the bitterness exhibited by the women on here….wishing STD’s calling me fools and implying they are stupid….why so bitter? Have some of you laides already fallin for this approach??

I used to think you wore them all as a set but recently I heard because of the weight and the huge bulk on the finger that would be seen, most women just wear the wedding band and just one of the other two.

I’ve noticed many airline flight attendants, and others wearing wedding bands but I suspect some are not married, but merely doing it to avoid getting hit on all the time.
What I want to know is how prevalent is this practice, and any experiences you may have had involving yourself or your friends.

Is there a "rule" on what a woman does with her engagement ring … when the engagement ring/wedding ring are a set?
Does the groom slip both rings on during the ceremony? Or does she wear the engagement ring and gets the wedding ring slipped on by itself?
Or does she keep her finger bare and just get the wedding band slipped on during the ceremony (and put her engagement ring back on later)?

My fiance wants to get a tungsten wedding band with laser engraving on the OUTSIDE of the band (it has a celtic knot design on the outside). He is worried, however, that over time the celtic knotwork will get scratched. I thought that tungsten was a pretty tough metal, and the woman at the jewelry store assured us that the design work would not scratch over time.
Here is a pic of the ring:

Any help/comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I am a Caucasian woman and I will be traveling in South America, almost all in Chile and Peru, but possibly spending some time in Costa Rica as well. I won’t be going to Colombia or anything. I will be in airports and on busses alone at times, but I will mostly be with a larger group. I haven’t used one before, but I have heard that it is very wise in dangerous or very male-dominated countries, and friends have used them for security. I am only sixteen, but I could be mistaken for eighteen or nineteen. Should I wear a wedding band while I am alone? Will this be useful or necessary?
Thanks everyone! My family is a bit paranoid, and it seems to be rubbing off on me. Anyhow, I have decided to bring an inexpensive ring to keep on me in case I feel like I might be going somewhere I’m not comfortable. I’m sorry if I came of as prejudiced or if I in any way implied I thought that Latin American men were imprudent. I know this is not true and that I cannot generalize. I was simply wondering if wearing a ring would be effective should I find myself in an uncomfortable place. I would do this (and I am actually more likely to) in the US. I had no idea about the left-handed ring tidbit, either. Thanks, though!

After the husband perposes, the wife has an engagement ring… Do the husband and wife go and purchase another ring (the wedding band) also or does the wife just use her engagement ring to close the deal.

He’s not having a bachelor party but he is going to a concert of his favorite band the night before my shower which I am not attending because I don’t care for the band. I made the shower women only because of space constraints and lack of a bigger house to host it in. Besides, I know guys are generally bored at these things anyway.
Now he’s throwing a little hissy fit because I told him it’s just for the girlfriends, a few female family members and some women I work with. I didn’t think he’d enjoy being the only guy there and if I had him come, then the others might wonder why they couldn’t bring their husbands.
Am I in the wrong here?
Oh, and no, it’s not like I’m throwing a shower for myself here. We’re having a destination wedding and won’t be able to bring gifts back on the plane. My family also kept asking about a shower but our house is too small and has no parking to accommodate people, so my aunt offered her equally small house but with backyard space, hence the space restrictions and limited guests.
And everyone who is coming WAS invited to the wedding, but some can’t make the long distance trip but agreed to go to the shower.

Just curious what other women’s experiences have been with this.
With my 1st pregnancy I had to stop wearing my diamond around 31 weeks and my wedding band around 36 weeks. I’m 35 weeks with my 2nd pregnancy and can still wear my diamond sometimes and am still able to easily wear my wedding band. (I’ve gained less weight with this pregnancy so far.)

I have noticed quite a few older women wearing multiple rings. And I’m thinking this is NOT something they did when they were younger. My MIL has taken this habit up in the last ten years, and for the 40 years I’ve know her, she wore no more than just a wedding band. Now, she wears one or two on every finger! I would ask her, but I know she thinks it looks grand instead of gaudy, and wouldn’t want to hurt her feelings. Has anyone else noticed this? what’s up?

Are there any rules around the man’s wedding band matching the woman’s bridal set? Does it matter?

If you are married, what is the millimeter (mm) width of your wedding band? If you are not married, what width band do you plan on wearing? If you know, will you tell me the widths of any of your friends’ or family members’ wedding bands?
Please state whether each band you list is worn by a man or a woman. I’m just trying to figure out what the "normal" widths of men’s and women’s bands are. Thank you so much!

I’m trying to decide on what type to ring to buy for myself. I will be wearing it alone since my engagement ring is a unique birthstone ring.
Thanks in advance!
I don’t need an actual pic. Just a link for a similar one would be helpful.
Strong Marriage – As I said above, I am not asking for the actual pic. I just want a link for a similar one. If you didn’t want to share this personal info, you don’t have to. It’s not like I asked for your address. Geez!
My mom has a plain band to match her engagement ring but she never wears it because her fingers swell.
I wanted something a little less traditional.
Loki – That’s the type that I want to buy for myself but mine has less stones. 3?
Blunt – Yours is beautiful

If so, what did you do? My husband lost his wedding band while we were at an amusement park today. He said it was uncomfortable so he took it off and put it in his pocket. I am past furious right now. I know rings are extremely materialistic but they mean a lot more than metal to me. I can’t talk or look at my husband. If this has happened to any of you women what did you do as far as the ring goes?
